UCC-1 Filing
A public filing a lender makes to formally record a security interest in a business's collateral, putting other creditors on notice of that claim.
A UCC-1 (Uniform Commercial Code financing statement) is filed with the state and doesn’t itself create the lender’s claim, it publicly records a security interest already established in a loan or financing agreement, so other potential lenders can see that the asset is already pledged.
Multiple UCC-1 filings can exist against the same business if it has more than one secured lender, and their filing order generally determines priority if multiple creditors ever need to collect against the same collateral.
