IRS Form 4506-C

An IRS form authorizing a lender to request a business's tax return transcripts directly from the IRS, used to verify income during underwriting.

Rather than relying solely on copies of tax returns provided by the applicant, a signed 4506-C lets a lender independently confirm what was actually filed with the IRS, adding a verification step many lenders require before final approval.

It’s a standard part of SBA loan applications and common across other tax-return-based underwriting processes as a fraud and accuracy check on the income being represented.
