Blanket Lien
A security interest covering essentially all of a business's assets, rather than a single specific piece of collateral, securing a loan broadly across the whole business.
A blanket lien gives a lender a claim across a business’s receivables, equipment, inventory, and other assets collectively, rather than tying the loan to one narrowly defined asset, which is common on many working capital and general business loans.
Because a blanket lien affects essentially all business assets, it can limit a business’s ability to pledge those same assets as collateral for additional financing until the original loan is paid off or a subordination agreement is arranged.
