Net Income

A business's total profit after subtracting all expenses, including operating costs, interest, and taxes, from its total revenue.

Net income (also called the bottom line) is the final profitability figure after every cost has been accounted for, and it’s what remains available to reinvest in the business, distribute to owners, or build up cash reserves.

Because it reflects the complete financial picture, net income is a common reference point in loan underwriting and in calculating net margin, though EBITDA is sometimes used instead specifically to exclude financing and accounting-related deductions.
