SBA Microloan

A small SBA-backed loan, up to $50,000, issued through nonprofit intermediary lenders rather than banks, aimed at startups and very small businesses.

Unlike the 7(a) and 504 programs, SBA microloans are funded and serviced by designated nonprofit community lenders, which often pair the loan with business counseling or training as part of the program.

They’re geared toward smaller funding needs, like initial inventory, supplies, or equipment, and toward borrowers who may not yet qualify for a larger SBA or bank loan due to limited operating history.
